Choosing the Right Clinic for Ketamine and Mental Health Treatment: Why It Matters

If you're considering ketamine, Spravato®, SGB, or another advanced treatment for depression, PTSD, anxiety, or trauma-related symptoms, choosing the right treatment is only part of the decision. Choosing the right clinic matters, too.

At Reset Medical & Wellness Center, we've intentionally designed our approach to be welcoming, personalized, and trauma-informed. This is especially important with treatments such as IV ketamine and Spravato®, where patients may spend significant time in the treatment environment, and the setting can be a critical component of the experience.
We believe mental health care should be more than simply administering a medication or performing a procedure. The treatment matters. The environment matters. The care matters.
Here's what a few of our patients have shared about their experience at Reset:
“Reset Medical and Wellness Center is one of the best places I’ve been to in years. The doctor is phenomenal, and he knows what he’s doing, and the staff is great.”— Gary
“Hands down the best team of healthcare professionals I’ve ever met. It’s been a life-changing experience for me personally, and I can’t thank the team enough. I don’t have the words, but if whoever is reading this is uncertain about reaching out, all I can say is don’t be. Just call; it’s important, and it’s worth it.”— Randolph
For individuals seeking ketamine therapy in the Cleveland area or looking for a more personalized alternative to a large medical center, our intimate clinic offers a quiet, comfortable setting where you'll never feel like just another appointment.
More Than a Number

Anxiety and trauma can make even relatively simple situations feel overwhelming. Walking into a crowded waiting room, navigating an unfamiliar medical environment, or feeling rushed through an appointment can add unnecessary stress during an already difficult time.
That's why we designed our practice differently.
From the first phone call through treatment and recovery, our goal is to create an experience that feels clear, comfortable, and supportive. This isn't simply about making an office look relaxing. It's about providing care through a trauma-informed lens.
What Does Trauma-Informed Care Look Like?
“Trauma-informed” has become a common phrase in healthcare, but patients should be able to see and feel what it means in person. At Reset, we think about trauma-informed care throughout the entire patient experience.

It Starts With the First Conversation
For someone who has experienced trauma, even making the first phone call can be difficult.
Our team understands that patients may be anxious, uncertain, or uncomfortable sharing personal information. We take the time to listen, explain the process, answer questions, and make sure patients understand what comes next.
Transparency
Unknowns can increase anxiety. Patients should understand what to expect from treatment, including the process, anticipated costs, preparation, recovery, and potential next steps. Our goal is to remove as many unnecessary surprises as possible.
Choice
Maintaining a sense of control can be especially important for someone with a history of trauma. Whenever possible, we give patients choices regarding their comfort, environment, and supportive measures during treatment. We want patients to feel that care is being done with them, not to them.
Pace
Healing shouldn't feel hurried. Our team intentionally allows time for questions, preparation, treatment, and recovery. We don't believe exceptional mental health care comes from moving people through an assembly line.
Repetition and Clarity
Medical information can be difficult to absorb when someone is anxious or overwhelmed. That's why we may review important information more than once, from initial conversations and pre-treatment instructions to what happens when you arrive at the office. Consistency and repetition can provide reassurance and reduce uncertainty.
Presence
Perhaps most importantly, patients deserve clinicians who are actually present.
Whether you're speaking with our front office, nursing staff, recovery team, or physician, our goal is for you to feel heard and supported throughout the experience.
Trauma-informed care isn't a separate service we offer. It's how we approach all patient care.
Why This Matters With Ketamine Therapy

The treatment environment is particularly important with ketamine therapy.
Ketamine can create a temporary altered state of awareness. Patients may feel deeply relaxed, introspective, emotionally open, or temporarily disconnected from their usual surroundings.
That makes trust and preparation especially important. Our experience with ketamine extends well beyond administering the medication. It includes preparing patients for what they may experience, monitoring them closely, creating an appropriate treatment environment, providing supportive care, and allowing adequate time for recovery.
Our comfortable treatment rooms allow patients to rest, listen to music, meditate, or simply experience the treatment in a quiet space while our clinical team remains nearby.

Experience Matters
Dr. Louwers brings nearly 20 years of experience treating complex nervous system and pain-related conditions to Reset Medical & Wellness Center. Since opening in 2024, we have provided thousands of advanced treatments for PTSD, anxiety, depression, and other complex conditions.
That experience matters.
With both IV ketamine and Spravato®, the treatment experience involves much more than simply administering medication. Patients are carefully monitored, supported throughout treatment, and given time to recover in a comfortable setting. Our nursing team provides individualized attention, with physician oversight on site.
While IV ketamine and Spravato® have different protocols and requirements, our approach remains the same: experienced clinical care, close monitoring, and a supportive environment where patients never feel rushed or overlooked.
When choosing a clinic, patients should feel comfortable asking not only what treatment is offered, but also:
Who will be monitoring me?
What experience does the clinical team have?
What happens if I'm anxious or uncomfortable?
How much individualized attention will I receive?
What does the treatment and recovery environment feel like?
How will the clinic communicate with my therapist, psychiatrist, or other providers?
Those questions can be just as important as asking about the medication itself.
Mental Health Treatment Isn't One-Size-Fits-All
Ketamine is an important part of what we do, but it isn't the right treatment for every patient. At Reset, our approach includes several advanced treatment options that may address different aspects of depression, PTSD, anxiety, chronic stress, and nervous system dysregulation.
IV Ketamine Therapy
IV ketamine may be considered for individuals struggling with conditions such as treatment-resistant depression, PTSD, and anxiety when traditional approaches haven't provided adequate relief.
Spravato® (Esketamine)
Spravato® is an FDA-approved intranasal esketamine treatment administered in a certified treatment center under the Spravato REMS program. For eligible patients, insurance coverage may make it an important option for treatment-resistant depression.
Neuro Sympathetic Reset (NSR)
For some patients, trauma presents not only through thoughts and emotions but also through persistent physiological symptoms of sympathetic nervous system activation. NSR is an advanced approach to stellate ganglion block designed to address symptoms associated with sympathetic nervous system hyperarousal, including hypervigilance, sleep disruption, anxiety, irritability, and exaggerated stress responses. Learn more about NSR here.
These treatments aren't interchangeable, and not every patient needs an intervention.
More importantly, these treatments are not intended to replace traditional therapy. Rather, for the right patient, they may help create an opportunity for therapy and other forms of trauma treatment to be more effective and easier to engage in. Sometimes the right approach is therapy. Sometimes it's medication management. Sometimes it's an interventional treatment. And in many cases, the best care involves thoughtful collaboration between multiple providers.
Trauma-Informed Care is a Team Effort

For patients living with trauma, depression, or chronic anxiety, treatment does not occur in isolation.
We recognize the important role of therapists, psychiatrists, primary care physicians, and other members of a patient's healthcare team.
Our goal isn't to replace those relationships. When appropriate, it's to work alongside them.
Our interventions often create an opportunity for improvement, but long-term recovery typically involves therapy, lifestyle changes, medication management, social support, and continued work on emotional and physical health.
That collaborative philosophy is particularly important for those with complex trauma (CPTSD) who trust us with their care.
What Should You Look for When Choosing a Mental Health Treatment Clinic?

If you're considering ketamine or another advanced mental health treatment, don't evaluate a clinic based solely on whether it offers the treatment you're looking for. Look at the entire experience.
Consider the clinical team's experience, medical oversight, safety protocols, treatment environment, communication, transparency, and whether the practice demonstrates a genuine understanding of trauma.
Most importantly, ask yourself:
Do I feel heard, safe, respected, and comfortable with the people who will be caring for me?
Because when you're seeking treatment during one of the more difficult periods of your life, that matters.
Experience the Reset Difference
At Reset Medical & Wellness Center, we've intentionally built a practice around personalized care, meaningful relationships, clinical experience, and a trauma-informed environment.
Sometimes our patients describe that experience better than we ever could:
“Life changing procedures made all the difference in the world for me! I am so thankful for the excellent care and experience that I had with you all. I feel as if I gained a new family! Thank you so much for what you do!”— Tom

If you've been struggling with depression, PTSD, anxiety, or trauma-related symptoms despite traditional treatments, our team can help you better understand the options available and determine whether an advanced treatment may be appropriate for you. Our goal is to help you find an approach that fits your individual needs and supports meaningful, lasting progress.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I choose a ketamine clinic?
Look beyond the medication itself. Consider the clinical team's experience, medical oversight, monitoring protocols, treatment environment, level of individualized attention, and how comfortable you feel communicating with the team. Because ketamine can produce an altered state of awareness, preparation, trust, monitoring, and the treatment environment are particularly important.
What does trauma-informed care mean?
Trauma-informed care recognizes that previous trauma can influence how someone experiences healthcare. It emphasizes principles such as safety, transparency, choice, appropriate pacing, clear communication, and patient autonomy.
At Reset, these principles influence the entire experience—from the first phone call through preparation, treatment, recovery, and follow-up.
Is Spravato® different from IV ketamine?
Yes. Spravato® (esketamine) is an FDA-approved prescription nasal spray administered only through certified treatment centers under the Spravato REMS program. IV ketamine is administered intravenously and is used off-label in mental health care for conditions such as treatment-resistant depression and, in some settings, PTSD and anxiety.
The treatments have different indications, dosing protocols, schedules, and insurance coverage.
Does Reset only provide ketamine treatment?
No. Reset offers several advanced treatment options, including IV ketamine therapy, Spravato®, and Neuro Sympathetic Reset (NSR). The appropriate treatment depends on the individual's symptoms, diagnosis, medical history, previous treatments, and goals. We also provide other treatments for chronic stress-related conditions, including IV therapy, Botox, and trigger point treatments.
Will Reset work with my therapist or psychiatrist?
When appropriate and with patient authorization, our team can collaborate with therapists, psychiatrists, primary care physicians, and other members of a patient's healthcare team. We believe advanced interventions are often most valuable when incorporated into a broader treatment and recovery plan.
