Esketamine (Spravato) Therapy

Before we proceed, a consultation will be completed with our psychiatric nurse practitioner to review your medical and psychiatric history and clear you for ketamine treatment. It is very important that we obtain a precise medical history, including medications and prior mental health treatment. Completing our Ketamine Intake Form can help facilitate treatment.

You will self-administer Spravato nasal spray under the supervision of our medical team. The medication is given in a series of nasal sprays over several minutes. Many patients describe the treatment as relaxing, though experiences vary. During treatment, you may notice: Feeling detached or "dream-like" Mild dizziness or lightheadedness Changes in perception Drowsiness or relaxation A temporary increase in blood pressure These effects are expected and usually begin to fade during the observation period.

After receiving Spravato, you will remain in our comfortable treatment suite for at least two hours while we monitor your recovery. During this time you can: Relax in a comfortable recliner Listen to calming music Rest with an eye mask if desired Read or simply enjoy a quiet environment Our team will periodically check your blood pressure and ensure you are recovering appropriately before discharge.

Most patients return to their usual baseline later that day or by the following morning. For the remainder of the day: Do not drive or operate machinery. Avoid alcohol and recreational drugs. Plan for a quiet evening with minimal obligations. Stay hydrated and eat a light meal if you feel hungry. Most patients begin with: Weeks 1-4: Two treatments per week Weeks 5-8: Usually one treatment per week After Week 8: Maintenance treatments are individualized based on your response and your provider's recommendations. Many patients begin noticing improvement within the first few weeks, although every person's response is different. Spravato works best as part of a comprehensive treatment plan, especially when combined with ongoing care from your mental health provider and psychotherapy.
